With the ever-increasing popularity of the RTG-based casinos, those utilizing the WGS software sure are glad to see the developer coming out with new products in order to better compete. The Butterflies 2 video slot is the latest example of WGS’ latest attempt to regain some of the market share and improving their graphics over the previous generation games. In our review of Butterflies 2 today we will take a look at this latest addition to the WGS video slots stable and see if they are trending in the right direction.

The Butterflies 2 video slot is your typical 5-reel multi-line slot machine, paying left to right on combinations of 2(3) or more alike symbols. On first look, those who have been frequenting the WGS casinos would immediately notice the much improved graphics, especially over some of the more classic games those online casinos have on tap. The visuals is pretty much where the latest iteration of this video slot has made the most improvements, however, we don’t feel like there was enough done in order to make this a competing slot to some of the RTG’s newest offerings. On the positive side, however, the graphics are big improvement, much more pleasant on the eye, the sounds are nice and enticing, and as it is the case with most WGS slots – there is a very good chance of winning big.

That said, we hoped for more features in this game than what was actually delivered. The biggest disappointment is that, for some unexplained reason, there are really no free spins feature, nor any type of bonus round to speak of. The winning table presents the usual “alike symbols” payouts that we see at every video slot’s regular gameplay. There is one “feature” and that is the butterfly house symbol, which appears on the first reel only. When this happens, a butterfly will fly out of the house and will begin landing on random symbols, instantly converting them into wilds. Once this has completed – the player receives the payout.

We have to admit that this is where the casino player will get their highest payouts, and the quasi-feature is not really that bad, the issue is – that’s all there is to the Butterflies 2 video slot. There are Scatter symbols, as well, but getting 3 or more offers nothing, except a payout based on your bet, i.e. no feature, free spins, or bonus round of any kind. We have never felt more disappointed as when we landing our first 3 Scatter symbols, expecting to enter a bonus feature or get a bunch of free spins, only to get a payout and nothing else.

In the end, the Butterflies 2 video slot is not particularly bad and it does offer a good opportunity to win big when playing. It’s just that, as you can tell from this rather short review, it could become boring really quick. With no special features, there is nothing really left to make this video slot stand out from the rest. We commend WGS on finally improving their overall graphics, but adding some free spins based on the Scatter symbols would’ve made this slot machine much more enjoyable. Overall, a decent video slot, but nothing really there to write home about.
