What are no deposit bonuses?

Every online casino today offers a generous sign up bonus for new customers playing for real money, however, one type of bonus has been extremely popular with every casino player – the “no deposit” bonus. While the regular match-bonuses are bound to net you some serous free bankroll, depending on the casino you’ve chosen, the no-deposit bonuses are just as the name suggests – absolutely free money you can use to play nearly all the casino games. There is one catch, though – they have always been extremely hard to find.

As the saying goes, there is no such thing as free lunch, so when some online casinos began offering a bonus where no deposit was required, some people were very skeptic, while others flocked to those gambling sites in troves. The no deposit bonuses were basically a small amount of free chips certain casinos (mostly newly opened ones) offered to every new player. The amount, naturally, was rather small, almost never exceeding $20, but in the eyes of many – free was free, so why not take advantage of it? And at first glance they seemed to be right, until one realized what it actually was. Simply put, those online casinos paid $20 (often less) to gain a customer and all the information that cam along. Even more, the $20 wasn’t “real money”, per ce, i.e. you couldn’t withdraw them, only the winnings resulting from your play, and certain rather high play-through requirements had to be met well before one can think about withdrawal. So basically, those casinos paid you fake money for your real information and the chance that you would become a long-term customer.

In other words, it was a very inexpensive way for new casinos to accumulate a lot of customers without speeding much, or offering anything competitive. Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with promotional offers, every casino does them, but there is much more to choosing an online casino, besides the bonus offer. Needless to say, none of those casinos exist today. Sadly, there will always be new casinos banking on this type of strategy to inflate their customer numbers in a short amount of time. If you are interested in no deposit bonuses, however, we highly recommend not to consider any casino that offers them and simply go the standard way of acquiring some free chips from the gambling site.

Using the usual promotional offer, i.e. the match bonus, has great many benefits over the no deposit bonuses. Firstly, you can get a lot more free chips (and we mean – a lot), as you would with a no deposit bonus. As noted earlier, when offered, those no deposit bonuses are very small, $20 or less, some even offering $5. Would you give anyone your personal information for a measly $5? I think not. Meanwhile some of the top casinos we have listed on our main page will give you as much as 10 times your deposit, so you would end up making like a bandit before you even begin having fun at the casino.

Secondly, you can actually end up getting quite the amount of no deposit bonuses with the top casinos, although they are not really advertised as such. For example, most casinos will have a comp point program, which would allow current customers to accumulate points with every spin of the slot machine. Then in turn, those points can be converted for real-money chips, while some casinos even allow you to directly withdraw the comp points as winnings, no play required.

Finally, and probably most importantly, the casinos offering a no deposit bonus are not the best overall choice to play. As a matter of fact, they are often new gambling websites with no track record of paying customers, paying on time, having good customer service, and all the other features which make an online casino great. So don’t waste your time, at the very least, with such tricky offers and take advantage of the many regular bonuses and promotions the good casinos have to offer.
